I once said about Little Tiger that he is the only boy living in Lamaréné. Sr. Bep was very surprised about that statement thought. But I will now write about Little Tiger as him.
You either love Little Tiger or you hate him. We heard sentences like "I'm not gonna move to Lamba as long as he is there!" but who could ever harm this fellow?
Little Tiger is actually Little Tiger II. That's a long story I think but his monther is still Antje. Little Tiger II came to Lamba during my first week in Taizé (I did rubbish collection and found Antje's package in the El Abiodh rubbish cage) and lived a nice life there. Sometimes his stomach went to Constantinople for a week but he became more and more a part of our community.
But also Little Tiger had to realize that we were not a community of laziness. He had to take part in the work. So the first job we gave him - kinf of unofficially - was Lamba night guarding. He always wanted to teach him co-driving Mme Nay but - shame on us - we always forgot him. But after Milano we them took him to Macon Ville and Loché and he turned out to be a brilliant co-pilot in the car.
After this phase of teaching we move with the process of integration. Little Tiger went to La Morada to get keys and he took part in an evening prayer. We stood up for our friend and did not hide him.
Then one day the unbelievable happened. Little Tiger was put on the working list and got in contact with the hard working routine in El Abiodh. He was in the house in the morning, had one to two and two to five before he did the kitchen in the evening beside driving Mme Nay pm and being email responsible.
The boys we totally shocked (not about the amount of work), their reaction was dripping with distain - "This...ehh... THING?!". Fr. Sebastien aparently considered Little Tiger to be one of the new Philippinian girls.
At this point I want to give a big thank you to sr. Bep for "the little joke on the working list".
But gradually some people turned out to not love Little Tiger (even though Anna-Karin had moved to Lamba despite him being there) - the poor was kidnapped. We received a letter from La Morada giving hints were to find him and he turn out to be hidden in a suitcase on top of a closet. But we also had to prove our love for Little Tiger - we had to wash him (which was necessary after the abduction) and perform in a Little Tiger forum with a song, a dance, and a theater play.
It was a hard time for him but nothing could exclude him from our community and made the ones smile and the others shake their heads until I left Lamba...
